Ottawa’s 2011 Community Safety Award Winners Announced
(Ottawa)— Crime Prevention Ottawa is pleased to announce the winners of the third annual Community Safety Awards. The awards recognize the people and programs that have made a difference in preventing crime and making communities safer across the city.
The eight winners will be acknowledged at the Community Safety Awards ceremony this evening, Monday, November 7, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ottawa City Hall, Jean Piggott Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West.
The award winners are:
- Youth Community Safety Program: YOUCAN
- City of Ottawa Community Safety Leader: Mohamud Hassan, Community Liaison Officer
- Business Community Safety Award: ByWard Market Safety and Security Committee
- Community Safety Volunteer: Patrick Mates, Home Security Inspection Coordinator
- Community Safety Program: Ottawa Community Youth Diversion Program
- Enforcement Professional: Cst. Mahamud Elmi, School Resource Officer
- Community Safety Volunteer Program: United Neighbours – Environment & Beautification Working Group
- Community Safety Leader: Sylvie Manser, Director, Banff Community House
