Working through problems with neighbours
Although By-law and the police are sometimes needed to help solve issues in the community, there are steps that individuals can take on their own to deal with problems before they get too serious. Many problems can be solved between neighbours before involving anyone else, and this can lead to more positive relationships being built.
If you have a problem with a neighbour, the first step might be to approach them and share your concerns. They might not even realize what effect their behaviour or actions are having on their neighbours.
If this does not work, another step you might consider is a mediation or conflict resolution service, like the one offered by National Capital Region YMCA-YWCA. Through this program, the YMCA-YWCA will attempt to help you find a solution to your problem with your neighbour, and to maintain a good relationship throughout.
