Édith Dumont

Part of the Conseil des écoles publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario (CEPEO) for the last 25 years as a resource teacher, education counselor, principal, superintendent and finally as Director of Education, Ms. Dumont has the privilege of being in close contact with her school communities and today’s youth.

Her unwavering passion for education makes her a true ambassador adept at inspiring students, parents and school staff to give the best of themselves. For Ms. Dumont, schools and the community play crucial roles in helping young people learn how to become committed citizens, dedicated to changing the world to ensure a sustainable future.

It is with huge pride that Ms. Dumont speaks of her school board and its schools as places where learning experiences go well beyond classroom walls. Today, technological tools open the classroom to the whole world and allow students to work with each other to solve complex problems. Furthermore, the CEPEO’s specialized programs allow students to express their pride in being Francophone and live in an inclusive society where diversity is appreciated and valued.

More recently, Ms. Dumont announced the board would welcome its first foreign students, as well as partnerships that will allow Franco-Ontarian students to experience learning in various countries.

These are some of the elements that are characteristic of the CEPEO’s openness and sense of innovation, according to Ms. Dumont.
