On July 12, 2023, Council approved the merger of Crime Prevention Ottawa (CPO) with the Community Safety and Well-Being Advisory Committee for a more cohesive, integrated approach by the City to crime prevention.
The City of Ottawa’s Community Safety and Well-Being Plan and Crime Prevention Ottawa are closely related as they work to address root cause social issues while promoting community safety and well-being. Their efforts prioritize collaboration, social development, crime prevention, and community engagement through capacity building as vital strategies for promoting and improving safety and well-being in all communities for all residents.
The vision of the Community Safety and Well-Being Plan is ‘a sustainable community where everyone is safe, has a sense of belonging, opportunities to participate, and where individuals and families are able to meet their needs for education, health care, food, housing, income and social and cultural expression.’ Combining that vision with crime prevention will emphasize the City’s commitment to continue to help the people of Ottawa feel safe and secure.
Our agencies and partners currently receiving funding through Crime Prevention Ottawa will continue to receive all committed funding to the end of their current terms, after which these agencies will be considered for funding through open opportunities through the Community Safety and Well-Being plan. For any inquiries related to funding, please continue to reach out directly to Ahmad Luqman at email@example.com.
We sincerely thank our partners for their support and advocacy with our community. Please feel free to contact Ahmad directly should you have any further questions.
