If you own and rent out a room, apartment or house, you have certain responsibilities as a landlord.

Crime Prevention Ottawa’s publication, Safety Guide for Ottawa’s Residential Landlords, is packed with tips about selecting tenants, landlord duties, conducting inspections, dealing with complaints and much more.

Landlords and tenants are usually covered by the rules in the Residential Tenancies Act. The Act also applies to care homes, retirement homes and sites in a mobile home park or land lease community. The Board resolves disputes between tenants and landlords.
